‘Golden Delicious’ is one of the most widely cultivated apple varieties worldwide, valued for its sweet flavour, versatility, and dependable productivity. Originally discovered in the early 20th century in West Virginia, United States, it has become a standard dessert apple in both home gardens and commercial orchards.

This variety produces medium to large apples with greenish-yellow skin that develops a warm golden tone as it ripens. The flesh is crisp, juicy, and sweet with a mild aromatic character. The fruit is suitable for fresh eating, salads, baking, sauces, and juices.

Harvest typically takes place from late September into October depending on seasonal warmth and local growing conditions. Under suitable storage conditions the apples keep well for several months.

This apple grows as a semi dwarf fruit tree, remaining more manageable than traditional orchard apples while still producing generous harvests. The controlled size is achieved through grafting onto a slow-growing rootstock, a technique widely used in professional orchards to regulate tree height and support reliable fruit production.

In spring the tree produces abundant white blossoms with soft pink tones that attract bees and other pollinators, supporting fruit set and providing ornamental value in the garden.
